Wine critic, journalist and certified sommelier, writing on the wines of Serbia and Southeastern Europe since 2003.
Igor Luković has spent more than two decades inside the wine business — as a journalist, sommelier, judge and, more recently, as a bridge between Serbia's wine scene and the international press. He is editor-in-chief of Vino & Fino, the wine and gastronomy magazine he has helped build into one of the region's most established, and writes as a critic for JamesSuckling.com, covering Serbia and the wines of Central and Southeastern Europe.
Most of his work has been about closing the distance between the region's winemakers and the audiences who rarely hear about them.
He has judged at the Decanter World Wine Awards since 2019, alongside a long list of other international competitions, and remains active in wine education, training and event consulting. Earlier in his career he led the sommelier profession locally as President of the Sommelier Association of Vojvodina and CEO of the Serbian Sommelier Association, and co-founded Wine Identity, an initiative behind a number of the region's wine events.
Begins his career as owner and editor of Gurman and Gastro Svet magazines, before becoming General Manager of Vinodrom, a wine import and distribution company.
Helps found the magazine and grows it into a leading regional title on wine and gastronomic culture, distributed across Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Montenegro. Now serves as editor-in-chief.
Serves as President of the Sommelier Association of Vojvodina and CEO of the Serbian Sommelier Association, and co-founds Wine Identity, an initiative organising wine events across the region.
Joins the DWWA judging panel for the first time, and continues to judge annually alongside other respected international competitions.
Joins the team as critic and writer, reporting on Serbian wine and the emerging producers of Central and Southeastern Europe for an international readership.
